Friendsgiving 2018 Weekend Celebration at a Pocono Mountains Vacation home

Updated: Mar 8, 2019

Thanksgiving is a time to express your love and appreciation for others. This year the record cold weather in New York City kept my kids and I indoors. We celebrated on the sofa with our plates watching the Macy’s Day Parade and the International Dog Show. But I was content because I scheduled my first Friendsgiving 2018 mini getaway for the weekend after Thanksgiving with my extended family.

What is Friendsgiving?

It's a gathering of friends over a Thanksgiving feast. But, Friendsgiving now can also mean a time to share a meal with friends and/or family in addition to the traditional Thanksgiving day. The holiday isn't observed on one special date, there is a range of dates that are generally considered to be prime Friendsgiving time, and that's any time between November 21 and November 26.

On my search for a location to fit 8 people, a new puppy, affordable and easy commute from New York City, I came across Pocono Mountains Vacation on Instagram. George is a Pennsylvania native, Pocono expert and owner of 3 amazing properties located in the heart of Pocono Mountains. My family and I stood at his newest and completely remodeled Pocono Estate Mountain home and it was perfect!

It’s a contemporary 2700 Sq. ft, 5 bedrooms, 3 bath, and 2 living room home. The home fits up to 14 guest. Minutes away from Kalahari, Crossings Outlet Mall, Great Wolf, Camelback, Walmart, various stores and local restaurants.

The home was clean, cozy, inviting and spacious. There is also a large enclosed sun room perfect for rainy days. It also has an outside deck with a BBQ grill and 2 outdoor dining tables. I am sure the deck is a huge hit during warmer weather.

Our favorite room was the game room, located downstairs. It has a pool table, board games, dart board, a large smart TV and other fun activities to enjoy. We sang songs, taught the kids how to play pool and we had a bean bag toss contest.

The game room walks out to a 5 seat Hot Tub and it is open year round! That was an adult treat that my cousin and I enjoyed after the kids were in bed (shhhh).

The fully equipped kitchen allowed us to prepare full meals and breakfast for the entire family. Before arriving to the home we stopped at the local Walmart (less than 10 mins away) and spent under $200 on grocery.

However, we did more than just eat; we laughed, danced, bonded and we were reminded that everything is better when we're together. I strongly recommend this home for large families, a group of friends looking to getaway from the hustle and bustle or a group of couples looking to bond. My family and I had our first (but not our last) Friendsgiving celebration at this Pocono Estate Mountain home.

How would you enjoy this gorgeous space?
